The right order to apply your skincare routine. Day & Night!
Skincare Routine - Day
Step 1: Cleanse and tone.
your face in the morning helps to prevent excessive oil production,
overnight your skin recovers meaning in the morning you have more dead
skin cells to gently remove.
We like a gentle cleanser as to not
dry out the skin, Proderm Gentle Cleanser ($35), Skin TX Foaming Gel
($43.50) are great choices.
Toners balance the pH of your skin and give you a perfectly clean base for your other product.
Step 2: Treat and moisturize.
you use a serum or gel or eye cream, apply and let it absorb into the
skin. Apply a daytime moisturizer (If it has SPF as well you get to skip
a step!) after any treatment product is fully absorbed.
to avoid treatments with Vitamin C, Retinols and Hydroquinone during
the day as they can make your skin more sensitive to sun, save these for
your night routine.
Step 3: Protect and perfect.
SPF, SPF, SPF! We cannot stress enough the importance of a broad spectrum SPF in your everyday
routine. The sun's rays are the number one cause of premature skin
aging. They can penetrate clouds, haze, smoke and their strength is
magnified when reflected off snow or water. SPF of at least 30 should be
used even in the winter and on cloudy days. Don't be stingy either,
slather on your favorite sunscreen all over the face and neck and let it
set for a few minutes.
We love the Bright Skin Moisturizer SPF 30
from Eminence Organic, which leaves skin with a matte finish. (Great
for oily skin) ($58)
and Vivier Pharma Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 - a moisturizer and sunscreen in one! ($30)
your primer and makeup after as usual. We love Jane Iredale's Dream
Tint - Tinted moisturizer with an SPF 15 ($45)! Extra protection is
never a bad thing.
Skincare Routine - Night
Step 1: Cleanse & Tone
your skin health and best complexion, cleanse your face of impurities
such as makeup and environmental factors (smog, dirt, dust) every night before bed! Failing to cleanse can leave you with enlarged pores, acne and a dull complexion.
like Eminence's Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser ($38), Deep cleansing
with yogurt and tea tree oil, but gentle enough to use every day with
Toners are great as a last line of defense to remove any last impurities and balance the pH of your skin.
They can be customized to your skin type just like any other skincare product.
Step 2: Treatment & Moisturize
any topical spot treatments or serums and allow them to absorb into the
skin. Dab serum in key areas (forehead cheeks, chin) and then spread
into damp skin.
We love Vivier Pharma serums, C E Peptides ($147)
which helps bring damaged skin back into balance and TMR ($88) which
helps reduce the appearance and recurrence of facial wrinkles such as
furrow lines, smoker's lines and crow's feet - amazing in combination
with Botox and Cosmetic Fillers.
For hyperpigmentation concerns, we recommend Celazome's Fade Shades ($72) or Skin Tx's Clarite ($104.50).
For red, sensitized, Rosacea prone skin, many clients find relief from Vivier Pharma's Redness Solution Complex ($90).
Step 3: Nourish and Moisturize
your ring fingers (they apply the least pressure) gently spread eye
cream (start at the inner corner towards the outside to promote drainage
of extra fluids). Be sure not to apply eye cream too close to the
lashes. Our staff is obsessed with the results from Celazome's Eye Treat
Apply a slightly heavier moisturizer or cream for
night. A superior anti aging night cream is Proderm Liftense ($108),
which has collagen promoting ingredients.
EXTRA STEPS: Exfoliants and Masks.
once or twice per week on clean skin. A great option is Celazome's Gly
Duo ($112), A Glycolic Cleanser and Glycolic Repair Cream you build up
to using 3 nights a week.
Masks are great to use while
you shower (Apply onto clean skin and let it work as you shave your
legs, or wash your hair, then rinse it off) Use masks once a week on
evenings you don't exfoliate.
For a boost of extra moisture, which
is great in the winter months, try Eminence's Strawberry Rhubarb
Masque, ($52) so hydrating some clients like to leave it on while they
sleep as a night moisturizer!
