Age Spots Sun Damage

MDSpa and Laser Clinic we use our elos IPL technology to treat unwanted age spots & pigment clusters.

Age Spots are small dark areas on the skin (also referred to as liver spots). These Clusters of Melanin vary in size, often appearing on areas of the body most often exposed to the sun. At MDSpa we use our elos IPL technology to treat unwanted age spots & pigment clusters.

What Are Age Spots Exactly?

Age spots, also known as solar lentigines, are flat, brown, gray, or black spots that appear on the skin. They vary in size and are most commonly found on the parts of the body that receive the most sun exposure. Age spots are a direct result of prolonged sun exposure. The more your skin is exposed to UV rays, the more melanin it produces as a form of protection. Sometimes, this melanin accumulates in high concentrations, forming what we call age spots.

The UV Impact

UV radiation causes damage at a cellular level, affecting DNA structure and causing genetic mutations. This can lead to early skin aging and increase the risk of skin cancer. Quite alarming, isn’t it? UV exposure is a major risk factor for most skin cancers. Besides skin cancer, UV radiation is also responsible for around 90% of the visible signs of skin aging, including wrinkles, sagging skin, and age spots. Prolonged exposure can make these signs appear before time.

Our Solutions To Treating Age Spots

Skin Resurfacing with Elos Triniti

Elos Triniti uses a technology known as “fractional non-ablative skin resurfacing.” In simpler terms, it targets the lower layers of the skin without harming the top layer, a principle known as “fractional” treatment. “Non-ablative” means it doesn’t wound the skin but rather rejuvenates it from within.

The process works through the delivery of intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF) energy into the skin. This combination of energies penetrates the deeper layers of the skin, heating the tissues underneath. This heat energy initiates a natural healing response in your body, stimulating the production of collagen, a protein that plays a critical role in maintaining skin’s elasticity and firmness.

As new collagen forms, it effectively “pushes” the old, damaged skin cells toward the surface, where they naturally exfoliate away. At the same time, the production of new cells is stimulated, which helps to replace the old, dead cells with fresh, healthy ones.

The result is a “resurfacing” effect. The older, damaged outer layer of skin is replaced with a fresh, new layer that’s smoother, more evenly textured, and healthier. Fine lines and wrinkles can be reduced, age spots and sun damage can be lightened, and the overall tone and texture of your skin can be significantly improved.

Overall, Elos Triniti skin resurfacing offers a non-invasive way to rejuvenate your skin and reverse the signs of aging and sun damage. It’s important to note, though, that the effectiveness of this treatment can vary from person to person, and multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired results. Always consult with a qualified skincare professional to determine the best treatment plan for your unique needs and goals.
