BELKYRA™ Double Chin Treatment

Non-surgical injectable treatment to reduce submental fullness

What is BELKYRA™?

BELKYRA™, also known as Kybella in the United States, is a non-surgical injectable treatment used to reduce the appearance of a double chin. It contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. During treatment, a series of small injections are placed into the fat beneath the chin. The treated fat cells are gradually broken down and eliminated by the body over time. Most patients require 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, and each appointment takes approximately 20 minutes.

Treatment Details & Possible Side Effects

The number of injections depends on the amount of submental fat being treated. BELKYRA™ is generally well tolerated and requires minimal downtime. Swelling is the most common side effect and may last up to three days. Bruising, redness, itchiness, and discomfort may also occur. Some patients experience numbness or tenderness under the chin that can last up to two months. Results typically become visible within a few weeks to a few months as the body processes and eliminates the treated fat cells. A consultation is required to determine if this treatment is appropriate.
