Excessive Sweating

MDSpa and Laser Clinic has solutions for excessive sweating conditions also known as hyperhidrosis.

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, affects areas such as the underarms, palms, feet, and sometimes the face. It occurs when the body’s sweat glands overreact, producing more sweat than necessary. This condition can impact daily life and comfort. A confidential clinic consultation is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate.

Hyperhidrosis may be managed with medical and non-medical options depending on severity and response to prior treatments.

Treatment Options for Excessive Sweating

Treatment options include prescription antiperspirants, prescription creams, nerve-blocking medications, iontophoresis, and botulinum toxin (Botox) injections. Over-the-counter, clinical-strength, and prescription-strength antiperspirants contain aluminum-based compounds that temporarily block sweat ducts. Iontophoresis uses mild electrical currents delivered through water to temporarily disable sweat glands, particularly for hands and feet.

Botulinum toxin (Botox) works by blocking the chemical signals from nerves that stimulate sweat glands. It is commonly used for underarms, hands, feet, and face when other treatments have not improved symptoms. Effects typically begin within a few days, with full results seen within two weeks, and may last approximately 4–6 months before repeat treatment is required.
