What Is Laser Teeth Whitening?
Laser teeth whitening is a chair-side whitening procedure that uses a peroxide-based gel activated by light energy to accelerate stain breakdown. During treatment, a protective barrier is applied to the gums, and a whitening gel is placed on the surface of the teeth. A blue LED light is then directed at the teeth to activate the gel and speed up the bleaching process.
This method is commonly selected for patients seeking noticeable whitening in a single visit. Treatment time is approximately one hour, and results vary depending on enamel condition, stain depth, and lifestyle habits such as smoking or frequent consumption of coffee, tea, or red wine.
Peroxide-based whitening results typically last between six months and one year. Maintenance treatments are often recommended every three to six months depending on staining patterns and oral hygiene habits.
Hydrogen Peroxide Whitening System
This clinic uses a 16% hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) whitening gel combined with a 24-watt blue LED light. Hydrogen peroxide acts faster than carbamide peroxide and is commonly used for chair-side whitening procedures.
Average whitening results range from 4–8 shades, depending on natural tooth color and stain type. Most patients report little to no sensitivity. A small percentage may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or mild gum irritation.
Teeth may appear yellow due to enamel thinning, aging, smoking, certain medications, or frequent intake of pigmented foods and beverages. Whitening treatments work by lifting surface and deeper stains to return teeth closer to their natural shade.
Home whitening kits are also available and require consistent daily use for up to 10 days to achieve gradual results.
