Initial Session: Initial treatment session involves a consultation with our Cosmetic Nurse or Physician, who will review your medical history, discuss your history of previous use of fillers and other cosmetic procedures, check whether there are any contraindications to using a filler. The Nurse or Physician will also review your cosmetic needs and expectations and will suggest which filler is the most appropriate for you. Also, the risks of the procedure will be discussed.
Upon selecting the filler, “before” photographs of the treatment area will be taken for reference in your confidential file. The cosmetic filler is then carefully injected under your skin where it is needed.
What are Cosmetic fillers?
Injectable filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin at different depths to provide the face with volume, reduce scars, fine lines, wrinkles.
What fillers are most popular?
The most popular fillers are derived from hyaluronic acid (a natural substance occurring in the human skin) and they last several months.
Is it painful?
The cosmetic filler is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce discomfort. Because our cosmetic filler is also available with pain-reducing lidocaine, the whole injection process is a more comfortable experience.
Are there any side effects?
Cosmetic Filler is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects are mild to moderate and are relatively short-lasting (less than seven days). These may include temporary skin reactions such as redness, tenderness and bruising, which may be covered with light makeup.
Do I need any allergy testing as it was required for some fillers?
No, none of the fillers used in our clinic requires any allergy skin tests.
How long is the treatment?
The filler session is usually 30 minutes long.
Are the fillers safe?
All the fillers we use are safe and approved for use in Canada.
How much does a filler cost?
The price depends on the product and the size of the syringe and the number of syringes used. This will be discussed during your complimentary consultation.
How many syringes will I need?
This is a commonly asked question of many clients seeking help in our clinic. A detailed number of the syringes with the filler will be given to you during a consultation upon learning about your needs and examining your face.
Top Cosmetic Filler Options in Alberta
1. Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid fillers are among the most popular due to their safety and effectiveness. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that naturally occurs in our bodies, primarily in the skin and connective tissues, and helps to retain moisture. Brands in this category include Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero. These fillers can smooth out wrinkles and lines, plump lips, and restore lost volume in the cheeks and under the eyes.
2. Calcium Hydroxylapatite Fillers
Calcium Hydroxylapatite fillers, such as Radiesse, are thicker than hyaluronic acid fillers and last longer. They are often used to fill deeper wrinkles and folds, enhance cheekbones, and restore volume loss in the facial area.
3. Poly-L-lactic Acid Fillers
Poly-L-lactic Acid fillers, like Sculptra, are considered semi-permanent and are used to treat deeper facial wrinkles and to increase volume, particularly in the cheeks. Unlike other fillers, they work by stimulating your body’s collagen production.
4. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) Fillers
PMMA fillers, like Bellafill, are permanent cosmetic fillers that are most commonly used to treat deep wrinkles, folds, and furrows, particularly nasolabial folds. They can also be used for lip augmentation and to fill out pitted scars.
5. Autologous Fat Injections (Fat Grafting)
This is a more invasive procedure compared to other filler treatments. It involves extracting fat from one part of your body (like your hips or thighs), processing it, and then injecting it into areas of your face that have lost volume.
Always consult with a qualified medical professional before choosing a cosmetic filler option, as the best choice will depend on your personal aesthetic goals, facial structure, and the specific area you want to treat. Give MD Spa & Laser Clinic a call today for a free no obligation consultation.
